Christmas cheeseboard
Here's a simple and festive recipe for a Christmas wreath using basil, cherry tomatoes, blueberries, almonds, and bocconcini:
Christmas Wreath Salad with Basil, Cherry Tomatoes, Blueberries, Almonds, and Bocconcini
Ingredients:
- 1 large bunch of fresh basil leaves
- 1 pint of cherry tomatoes, halved
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 cup bocconcini balls (small mozzarella cheese balls)
- 1/2 cup almonds, toasted and roughly chopped
- Extra-virgin olive oil
- Balsamic glaze (optional)
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
-
Assemble the wreath: On a large, flat platter or a serving board, arrange the fresh basil leaves in a circular pattern to form the base of the wreath.
-
Add the cherry tomatoes: Place the halved cherry tomatoes evenly around the wreath, adding a pop of color and freshness.
-
Incorporate the blueberries: Scatter the fresh blueberries throughout the wreath for a burst of sweetness and color.
-
Add the bocconcini: Gently tuck the bocconcini balls into the arrangement, allowing them to sit among the basil leaves and other ingredients.
-
Sprinkle the almonds: Scatter the toasted, chopped almonds over the wreath to add a delightful crunch and nutty flavor.
-
Drizzle with olive oil: Lightly drizzle extra-virgin olive oil over the entire wreath for a finishing touch of richness.
-
Optional balsamic glaze: If desired, drizzle a bit of balsamic glaze over the wreath to enhance the sweetness and add a touch of sophistication.
-
Season to taste: Season the wreath with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste.
Note: In the picture the ingredients I have used are, strawberries (in lieu of cherry tomatoes), feta cheese cubes (in lieu of bocconcini)
